davis, out!
Ok people.
I am going to be disappearing for a few weeks.
But I will be back.
I promise.
Please don't desert me.
Ok?
Ellie and I are going home to Indiana for 16 days. Yes. You heard right. 16 days. We always go home for Memorial Day and we always go home for the little homecoming fair. This year, they are very close together, so instead of making the trip twice, we are just staying there! Chris is coming and going as his job allows.
Should be fun!
I am sure there will be many blog posts dedicated to our trip when I get back.
Oh! And we have a little 4 year old graduate today. One year of preschool down!
See you on the other side!

sunday
Sunday was one of those days.
You know, an absolutely perfect early summer day.
It actually started Saturday night when Ellie and I both got a cute new pair of sandals.
And then it continued early sunday morning with a little hopscotch,
and cute posing,
all made possible by some coffee of course.
Then we went to lunch at a little place that is outside and overlooks the lake.
Then we went to a few open houses, cause we like to torture ourselves. It's not like we are ever, ever, ever going to sell our house, but we (meaning me) still like to look, cause you know, you never know. And of course, we found one we like. Whatever.
Then we went to a birthday party where I didn't get a single picture, but trust me, it was awesome. Let's just say, Ellie held a python, and pet a chinchilla and a tarantula. See? Awesome.
Then we ended up crashing Jeff and Megans Sunday even. Yeah. We kinda just showed up. Lucky for us, they didn't mind, and welcomed us with open arms, and drinks.
Scratch really enjoys Ellie,
cause she shares her goldfish.
Plus, we got a squeeze in with Jeff.
I predict a good summer. Ellie is old enough that we don't need to worry about naps and bedtimes as much. Plus, she is so good when we go places, just kind of blends into whatever is happening.
Bring it on!

this moment
I am totally stealing from soulemama. See her blog over there on the right? I would link to it, but I am having issues with my blog. She does this every Friday and I really like it. So I am gonna do it too! She takes one photo from the week she wants to remember and puts it up. So simple.
My pic of the week...friends.

the weekend
We had a very low key weekend. It was nice. Very, very nice.
Saturday, Ellie had her last spring soccer game. After 5 games and lots of practice, we have discovered that we have a little defenseman on our hands. More specifically, a goalie! She adores playing goalie and has a perfect record. No goals scored on her watch. She probably saved 20 or so goals. Hu-ya!
She is so cute. She really pays attention to the whole game and gets all ready and in position if things start to come her way.
Here she is saving a goal!
The good game line. They are so cute doing this.
More soccer to come in the fall!
Then on Sunday I got up and went for a good run. I have been doing p90x for awhile, but my body was telling me to run. So I did. It was really early and the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. It was lovely. I ran about 3.5 miles and it felt pretty good. My shins hurt, which is new. I will be curious to see if that continues. I plan on incorporating a little running into the p90x routine. We shall see how that works out. Then we went out to lunch and Chris and Ellie played some chess.
First on the small scale...
then on the BIG scale.
Then Chris went to the golf course for awhile and Ellie and I just hung out.
A great weekend indeed.

this week in pictures
This week we:
struck a pose
played jungle
went to the park
played hide and seek
picked flowers
met a friend for lunch
wore braids. I love her hair in braids!
and had a delicious pear beer.
We did a lot of other things, but this is what I happened to catch on my camera. I feel like I spent a lot of time yelling this week, but as I look back over the weeks' pictures, we had some fun too.

this morning
This morning, Ellie woke up at 0 dark thirty with a bad dream. I went in, calmed her and went back to bed. 5 minutes later she called again cause there was a bug in the room. Ok. Bug. Check. Then it was time for Chris to get up (at 5:45 cause he plays ball Tuesday mornings) and he was gone. At 5:49 she called again. I invited her to our bed, told her it was a one time thing and she had to go right back to sleep.
She did.
Oh my.
The pure bliss of sleeping with your baby.
When she was little and still nursing, I would bring her to bed for that 4 am feeding and she would sleep with us til morning.
I had forgotten.
How wonderful it is.
How could I have forgotten that?
It was rainy outside and the birds were just starting to sing. She snuggled all up next to me and fell instantly back to sleep. Knowing her mama would keep her safe from bad dreams and bugs. Knowing her mama was right there.
Her warm little body all snug in her blue and pink flower jammies.
Her little girl breaths whispery in my ear.
It was heaven. I was reluctant to fall back to sleep. I wanted to just drink her in and remember it forever.
This girl of mine.
It is so sad to think that there will come a time where I will be embarrasing. Where holding my hand will be totally beneath her. When we will wear the same size shoe.
Where she will pick her own friends, her own classes, her own choice for college, her own career, her own husband, and make decisions for her own babies.
Oh Ellie.
Stay little.
For just a little longer.
Ok?
She did.

river
My best girl Jen called and invited E and I to the river today. I had scheduled to go to the grocery cause we are down to like, bread crusts and rotten apples, but grocery smrocery. Off to the river we went.
First we started with a little hike through the woods. Very fun. Then we got to the river, spread our picnic blanket, had some lunch and played. It is gorgeous here today.
I am not sure how they ended up IN the river, but boy did they have fun. SO much fun that she rode naked, wrapped in one of my shirts, home. She was sooooo filthy muddy. Enzo was ten times worse.
It was awesome.
I don't know why I stress about Ellie not having siblings. She has 2 brothers. We love them like they are anyway.
I think the pictures are self explanatory. Note the progression of filthyness...
